Abu Dhabi

I've arrived!!! Touched down at Abu Dhabi International Airport late last night. The journey over here was ok except for the couple seated behind me who yacked and yacked throughout the entire 7 hour journey. Couldn't really sleep on the plane ... well, never could anyway. Watched a movie starring Ryan Reynolds called Chaos Theory (I think). Nothing worth shouting about ... so not gonna bother. Major turbulence experienced.

As you can see, not really in the mood to blog now. Workload is tremendous here with deadlines after deadlines to meet. Still not totally over the jet lag factor yet. Had breakfast and lunch at the same Indian cafe across the street. Price is reasonable but the same can't be said about hygiene level though. Seems like a party place for roaches and flies. Hopefully dinner will be some place else.

What else, oh ... had a good dinner with the family and SY before I left last night. On the menu were nasi lemak, satay and roasted duck. Yumms ... but it was the company that mattered more. Gonna miss them really.

Back to Abu Dhabi, I'm temporarily being put up in a service apartment. The place is small but clean. Doesn't really matter as I would be tired and just needing a place to crash.

No photos to upload now coz I ain't got a camera now. Am hoping to get a good deal here. Apparently electronics are a real bargain in this region. Shall see about that.

I apologize for this messy entry ... the brain not really functioning properly, down with a li'll bit of throat irritation and flu and that dreadful feeling of missing my other half. Just gonna take it one day at a time.

Pray for me k peeps.

working overseas cannot die wan la,whats the fuss?

Wouldn't harm you to keep this in mind "what won't kill you won't necessarily make you good"

Better to slog it out than to come back with tail between the legs

Now you are really gonna be 'WORKING' instead of 'RELYING' on other people.

This time, there wont be people helping you to 'DO' your work now.

Seriously, A part of me will pray for u. If u make through it, I will salute you when you come back.

Hey mates,

Thanks for all the well wishes. Yea, will try to update more often from here. Photos will have to wait since I've not got myself a camera yet. Other than that, things are ok over here ... just need to get used to the blasted weather.

Thanks Su. Help me keep SY busy k. And already found where the nearest pharmacy is.

Dear Anons,

Yes, will definitely try to 'slog' it out as you put it or else I wouldn't take up the offer in the first place knowing full well what's offered and what's in store.

As far as relying on others and 'actually working', well ... I guess we all know what's the real picture or else the scenario wouldn't be like what it is right now. Also, with more and more ppl not around, perhaps there's also less ppl to take your due credit away from all your hard efforts. Afterall, not all of us are equally blessed with brains and muscles. Us, lesser mortals will just have to make do with what we are given.

Anyways, thanks for your prayers ... honestly, really appreciate it and hopefully I do not dissapoint you upon my return. No hard feelings bro.

hey, i was just wondering...if you gonna buy a camera there, just make it an SLR, if it is cheap. Coz we would like to see beautiful pics from your`part of the hell / heaven. But frankly, i don't think the scenery there is much variety, mostly just dust, roads, or cactus or luckier...CAMEL.

Sam: wtf u talking about? heaven/hell? its PARADISE laaaaaa. we've been there and its ok la. The only reason I dun want to go there permanent is the money they pay me is too hvucking muchy...dunno what to do with soooooo muuuuuuch moooooolah.

Adrian: dun worry about Sam The Donk la, he sometimes serbur serbur ( blur-blur in Thai )...there are not only Camels there but lotsa damn pretty Syrian, Lebanese and Chinese girls woooo. Email me and I will give you their numbers :-)

Bro, life there is not all that suffering but can be enjoyable like hell if you know how to "entertain" yourself...but dun do it yourself la....remember to train both hands together so that they will develope equally..kekekeke

Hey Jamie,

Yeala ... not so much of a hell here at the moment. Kekeke. The heat sure reminds me of that though. :P

Waaa ... I better open my eyes and start scouting around for chicks then bro. I saw a couple of Etihad air stewardess staying at this hotel apartment too. :)

SY is so gonna kill me when she sees this.

Eh bro need your advise on DSLRs ... really virgin when it comes to this. Looking for a beginner's kit. See if I can snatch a good bargain here. This is also gonna get Sy to kill me. Hehe.

Yes, trying to adapt using my other hand to do the 'job' too. We'll see how that turns out.

Peace out.

bro, quit worrying about what SY will think la....just remember that "parts" will fail if left unused for prolonged periods.

The DSLRs there are no doubt cheaper than in BolehLand. It all depends what brand are you looking for. The only 2 brands that I would recommend are Nikon and Canon.

The type of camera you buy/choose depends on what type of pictures you want to take and also your level of skill.

Please DO NOT buy cameras labbeled as "PROSUMER" because it will out grow your needs very, very freaking fast. The diff between Prosumer and DSLRs is only the lens. Prosumer cameras has all in one type lens including digital zoom feature. In DSLRs, you will also find all in one lenses but no digital zoom. Pictures taken with a DSLR is more life like a real. The only setback is you might have to spend some more dollop on the lenses but then again it all depends on your requirement...if you are not into Macro, Super Macro or Micros then you should be ok with only 2 or 3 lenses.

Do not go for beginner level DSLR because they will also outgrow you damn fast. I would seriously advice you to have a look at the Intermediate level cameras if you plan to purchase one.

The Canon 4OD and Nikon D80 are legends in their own class ( intermediate ). Canon 40D is selling for about Rm3800 with standard lens kit and the Nikon D80 is selling at RM3600 with 18-135mm lens kit.

I am currently using a Canon A-1 SLR and Nikon D80 DSLR.

Hope my explaination will be of help to you in your impending quest. It would help if you browse Canon and Nikon's website as well.

FYI, SLR = Single Lens Reflex and D = Digital...hence the clarity and realism in pictures.

Thanks the best damn advices I've got so far since I touched down. Will check out what's in the market and update. Further advice might be needed after browsing. :)

With rgds to info on chicks, I'm not that 'interested' la. So just email me these 'unnecessary' details ... don't have to include it here for all to see. :p
