The world in which we live in today ...

Every morning, the first thing I do when I boot up my notebook is to check my emails. Scrolling through the list, the norm include mails from work ( blehhh :{ ), FB notifications, junks & spams and of course, the forwarded ones from friends and family. Now, from the last category, amongst them would be chain mails that’ll ‘guarantee’ a lifetime supply of bad luck should you not forward it to a minimum of 8 people etc. BAH!!! Others would contend uplifting phrases, jokes … well, you get the picture.

One particular circulation which is becoming disturbingly more frequent are those concerning crimes specifically related to the fairer sex. I’m talking bout snatch thefts, rapes, murders etc. and all these are occurring on our own backyard.

We have women being robbed, raped and kidnapped in shopping mall toilets, open car park areas, elevators, so on and so forth. It’s just distressing to know that our moms, sisters, wives, gfs are all practically living fearfully in constant danger all of the time. One can’t possibly be a prisoner in their own home … women need to work, go to school, basically go out to perform daily activities and by doing so, they’re vulnerably open to attacks from these vile prowling ‘predators’.

Are our local authorities doing their job well enough??? In terms of sufficient manpower and its efficiency … is it at its required performance level given the current predicament that we’re facing today? I think not!!!

What about us, common folks??? Are we civic minded enough to lend a hand when required? Do we dare play the pro-active role as a responsible citizen and do what is needed, when it is needed should we stumble upon a crime in action??? I think not!!!

We are living in a selfish cynical society. To safe guard our personal well being, most if not all of us were taught to mind our own business instead of reaching out to help. We adopt the ‘why bother’ mentality and all these only serve to fuel the increase in the aforementioned crime rates.

It’s really frustrating to feel so useless and not being able to do anything to make things better. ARGHHHH!!! >:(

Hi Adrian!!

I have something to share, don't know if you've heard abt it.. 1 of our gym mates, he's a regular in most of the BC classes and umm..we used to laugh at his exaggerated moves.. :P

He was attacked a few months back while walking back fm the gym. He suffered 1 slash to the head, 2 on the neck and 1 on the arm. The asshole ran when the parang broke and our friend was all covered in blood, thinking that he has just killed our friend.

This happened at the road side,Sec 14, near Digital Mall if I'm not mistaken.. bz area... BUT guess what??

NOBODY came to his aid - ppl gathered to watch the incident, WATCH (and stared) - like a movie BUT no one helped; our friend walked back leaving a trail of blood behind him and ppl continue to stare, from the roadside, shops and some behind the windows from their home...

It's so sad that our society has resolve to having this kind of mentality; "none-of-my-business", "don't-get-involved", etc..

BUT they of coz do not mind some entertainment from "live" shows - something that will be a good conversation piece, that'll last for weeks...

Sigh....

Yea, he told me bout it the last time I was back. He was out of the gym and recuperating for a good 3 months. It's sad really to hear of such occurences but alas ... this is a reality ... this is what is going on. How long will it continue to persist???

Yes...it's sad to see this kinda thing happening. Now, even the old folks are afraid to go jogging in the morning. Imagine this, the same old man got slashed and robbed for 2 times. Slashed first, then only rob you.

I remember back in the 80's, people are NOT afraid to go out walking in the morning...really miss those days...

Come to think of it, with all the advancement in technology, the emphasis for better education and yet, society is spiralling backwards ... and it's becoming from bad to worse.
